Attendance : Volunteers can be as active as they choose. Given the nature of death, we realize that we may be called at any time, to attend services up to an hour away from San Antonio. We may be invited to two or more services at the same time. Attendance will depend on how many volunteers are available. We ask that members be flexible. You may be the only Honor Guard at a service, so you will be required to recite the Tribute and present the Lamp to family. Or there may be several Honor Guards, and duties will be shared.
Announcements: Members are encouraged to join our private Facebook Group SAN ANTONIO NURSES HONOR GUARD. You will receive an invite to the group after you sign up. Announcements, updates, occasional meetings are posted on this forum. Meetings are optional, but encouraged.
If you choose to not join the private Facebook Group, you may ask to be notified of announcements via text or email. However, please note that this causes additional tasks onto the volunteer Admin, and this optional notification may be delayed, unsent, or not updated. The most reliable and up-to-date notifications will be on the Facebook Group.
Travel: Volunteers are responsible for their own travel. We encourage carpooling! At this time, we are limiting our services to one hour from Downtown San Antonio. Traditionally the night- or morning before a service, the Admin will start a group text, confirming meeting time, place, and other details. We encourage you to respond to this group text if you have questions, are running late, or missing a uniform item.
